Call for
trainers for Multiplier Training Course
“Advanced Project Management”
Ukraine, July 7-13, 2008
Dear friends,
We are looking for trainers for the Multiplier Training Course, which is organized in the framework of “Youth Transcending New Frontiers” project (YTNF, www.ytnf.org). The latter is an exciting project aimed to promote innovative activities of young volunteers at grass-root level in three main fields:
- human rights education
- the struggle against racism and xenophobia
- social inclusion of minorities and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds
The project, which is supported financially by the Youth Program of the European Union, will last for three years, started in January 2006. It is taking place in four countries - Russia, Moldova, Ukraine & Belarus - and is managed at local level by SCI groups and partners.
The
training course is hosted by SVIT-Ukraine, and will take place in
Svyatogorsk, Ukraine, July 7-13,
2008.
We are looking for 2 motivated persons who can provide participants knowledge and skills related to the topics of the training course, make them familiar with what is project and how to develop a good project, place of the project in your organization, how to manage diverse resources in the project (time, people, financial), how to plan communication and team work in the project. The training is targeted at the activists involved in project management teams (PMTs) of YTNF project, dealing with development and realization of small-scale activities in Moldova, Belarus, Ukraine and Russia, and also active volunteers of SCI branches. The participants already have some practical experience in managing volunteer projects, and the training aims to further develop their skills and qualifications (that is why it has the word “advanced” in the title).
It is not necessary to be a life-long trainer, but important to have both theoretical and practical experience in the topics of the training, it would also be an asset to have experience of work in an (international) youth and\or voluntary service organization, have experience of work with volunteers, management of volunteer activities and team building.
The training aims: to train PMT members and SCI activists in project management skills, to improve their theoretical knowledge and practical skills; to develop manual on project management of volunteer activities using the materials of the training; to provide space to participants to share best practices and successful examples of managing projects
General information:
- dates: 7.07 – 13.07 (the trainers are expected to take part to 2-days prep-team meeting in May, and to arrive on July 5 th and 6th for the prep-meeting)
- venue: town of Svyatogorsk, Donetsk region, Ukraine
- participants: 20 PMT members from Moldova, Ukraine, Belorus and Russia, activists and volunteers of SCI branches. Participants profile: active members of NG, AVI, SCG and SVIT-Ukraine who are involved in Project Management Teams of YTNF project, responsible for planning and organizing small-scale projects on the topics of the YTNF. Participants already have some practical experience on project management, and the training should help them to build up their skills and answer some specific questions on problems/difficulties they faced.

- prep-team: 4 PMT members from SVIT-Ukraine and 2 trainers
The program will include the following topics:
- what is a project, its characteristics, life cycle
- project in your organization (its place in organizational planning, influence of organizational culture on the project etc.)
- structuring/developing the project (need, aim and objectives, methodology and activities, time and resources, people, finances, monitoring and evaluation)
- phases of project management
- tasks and characteristics of successful manager
- specific features of partnership projects (local, bilateral and international)
Requirements towards the applicants:
- Theoretical knowledge and\or practical experience on the subjects of the training
- Proven qualities of organizing training program and facilitation, presentation skills
- Experience of participation in international activities and working in\with international teams
- Able to work in English
- Able to attend the whole duration of the training course and the prep-meetings
What can the trainer/resource person expect from us?
The person will have the opportunity to meet a motivated group of SCI volunteers from Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Russia and other countries, work with a full of ideas prep-team, establish new contacts with activists from participating organizations, learn about new SCI activities taking place in these countries.
All costs concerning meals and accommodation as well as the program and materials will be fully covered for the whole duration of the training and the prep-meetings. Travel and visa costs will be reimbursed 100% up to a maximum of 380 Euro. Further, a trainer fee is 250 Euros per day for EU representative, with kind request to donate 100 Euros back to SCI; and 100 Euros per day for CIS representative, with kind request to donate 40 Euros back to SCI. The fee will be paid for 8 days of work, including training, prep-team meeting and preparation prior to the training course.
What do we expect from the trainer/resource person?
The trainer will discuss the program together with the prep-team by email, and during the prep-meetings in May and on July 5-6. Thus, frequent communication by email is expected among the prep-team members during preparation stage. The trainer is expected to participate to the whole multiplier course and prep-meeting (from July 5th till July 13th. Please note that considering travel within the country, you would need to arrive to Kiev on July 4th to be in Svyatogorsk on the 5th, and leave from Kiev on the July 14th – departure from Svyatogorsk on July 13th). We expect that the trainer will contribute to the report, which will be prepared by the prep-team after the training course, and provide an evaluation report.

- The final decision will be taken by the Steering Group of the YTNF project
